The Land Use and Environmental Mediation Group provides professional neutral services in the resolution of land use, development, hazardous waste, energy siting, public policy, and other such conflicts. These disputes pose challenges for settlement as they may involve multiple parties, government decision-making processes, and technical scientific and legal issues. Our team was formed with specialists who can help you reach resolution of these difficult issues. From the left: Michael Jenkins, Rich Caputo, Cary Lowe, Barbara Filner, John Reaves.

Specialists
The Land Use and Environmental Mediation Group consists of specialists. The members collectively bring special capability or working knowledge related to the following kinds of disputes: energy systems, toxic and hazardous waste clean-up, insurance coverage, land use, CEQA, environmental law, water quality, climate change, sustainability, oil and gas, government agency processes, and large group decision processes.

A Team
We work as a team, either by co-mediating or designing the mediation process in advance so that the right combination of skills can be applied to resolving each dispute. We are prepared to assist throughout California and other states.

Problem Solvers
We are problem solvers. We have a combined 200+ years of experience in mediating and settling disputes.

Professional Neutrals
Project proponents – a private developer building a commercial project, a public agency building a new road – often hire public relations professionals to inform the public about the project. We believe that this approach can sometimes resolve disputes before they arise. But when conflict does arise, we believe that only professional neutrals – experienced mediators with no stake in the outcome – can secure the confidence of all parties to be effective in reaching resolution.  Our professionals have represented and resolved disputes among all forms of stakeholders -- companies, governments, environmental organizations and Tribes.
